Travel Payment Processing: How WiseAlt Helped Vuelos Caribe Stabilize U.S. Card Acceptance

A Florida travel business serving U.S. customers needed a more dependable way to accept card payments. WiseAlt prepared and coordinated the merchant’s onboarding with US Payment Provider, which provides the acquiring and settlement layer. The resulting setup supports approximately $500,000 per month of the card volume of the travel payment processing.

The client

Vuelos Caribe Corp. is a Florida travel company focused on Caribbean and all-inclusive vacations, cruises, tours and related travel experiences. Its public website says the business has operated since 2018 and presents IATA/IATAN and Florida Seller of Travel credentials. The customer journey is strongly U.S.-oriented, and the company’s commercial model depends on being able to accept online payments reliably.

The challenge: meaningful demand, unreliable payment continuity

Vuelos Caribe had a viable travel proposition and U.S. customer demand, but payment acceptance was not sufficiently stable. For an online travel business, interruptions in card acceptance can immediately affect bookings, customer confidence and cash-flow planning.

Add the exact nature of the instability here: processing interruptions.

The underwriting profile also required careful presentation. The merchant had a limited online processing history.

The objective

The priority was to replace repeated payment disruptions with a travel payment processing setup designed around the merchant’s actual business model and expected volume.

What WiseAlt did

  • Reviewed the merchant profile from a payments perspective, including the business model, payer geography and expected/current volume.
  • Assessed provider fit and identified the right PSP as a suitable U.S. processing route for the case.
  • Prepared and coordinated the merchant-side onboarding process with the PSP.
  • Helped organize the business and payment information required for the application and follow-up underwriting questions.
  • Coordinated communication between Vuelos Caribe and the PSP through approval and go-live.

Clear responsibility split

WiseAlt acted on the merchant side: readiness, provider selection and onboarding coordination. The PSP provided the acquiring and settlement layer and retained responsibility for the payment-processing relationship. The PSP  also handled underwriting, merchant-account structure and ongoing processing support.”

The travel payment processing solution

The merchant was onboarded to the PSP for U.S.-focused card acceptance, with the PSP providing acquiring and settlement. This gave Vuelos Caribe a processing route aligned with its customer geography and meaningful monthly volume, while WiseAlt remained the merchant-side coordinator during the onboarding process.

Technical/commercial specifics: Visa/Mastercard • integration • reserve structure • USD.

The outcome

Vuelos Caribe moved from unstable payment acceptance to a live acquiring and settlement setup with thrу PSP. The payment relationship supports approximately US$500,000 per month and serves a predominantly U.S. payer base.

The important result was therefore not approval alone. It was converting an uncertain payment situation into an operating processing relationship capable of supporting the merchant at scale.

Why this case matters

Payment problems of the traveling companies are often treated as a search for “another processor.” In practice, provider fit depends on how the merchant’s business model, transaction profile, payer geography and processing history are presented to the right underwriting environment. In this case, WiseAlt’s role was to connect those merchant-side requirements with a provider capable of supporting the required U.S. acquiring setup, while the PSP remained responsible for acquiring and settlement.
